expeditions

Our expeditions are provided by Challenge The Wild XL, who have successfully run hikes, cycles, runs, multi activity and water based expeditions to many high profile organisations.

Their comprehensive event management service begins by asking the questions that need to be considered when running an expedition and then focuses on the actions that need to be undertaken to ensure its success.  As with all event planning and delivery, further questions or actions may be generated to meet specific objectives, but anything is achievable if planned meticulously in a reasonable time frame.

The Planning Phase

During the planning phase, the structure of the challenge needs to be established first, allowing content to be generated within this framework.  The areas to be considered and developed by Challenge The Wild XL are:

  • Route Recce
  • Health and Safety checks and Risk Assessments
  • Production of Event Management Plan
  • Production of Emergency Management Plan
  • On challenge First Aid
  • Event Logistics - accommodation, transport and catering
  • Production of Event Itinerary

Preparing for the expedition

It is important that the participants and support team are prepared both mentally and physically prior to their challenge.  Challenge The Wild XL provides the following:

  • Participant meetings to discuss concerns and generate positive focus.
  • Participant training, specific to their chosen challenge.
  • Pre challenge medical checks.
  • The production of training plans.

The Expedition

Detailed planning and preparation for a challenge will ultimately ensure its success, however, the delivery of any challenge is a challenge in itself regardless of how much work has been done in advance. To ensure its success, the following is provided.

  • On challenge Event Manager who understands content requirements and is responsible for liaising with the support team.
  • Qualified instructors who complete the challenge with the participant.
  • Additional staff where required to manage additional participants.
  • Support Vehicle.
  • On challenge First Aid.
  • Challenge Pack – key contacts for event logistics and administration.
  • Detailed mapping.
  • Emergency equipment.
  • Insurance.
  • Itinerary Assessment tool.

Post Expedition

The immediate post expedition action is to check on all participants and support personnel; their health and welfare.  Advice will also be provided on recuperation and recovery.

A full evaluation of each expedition will be conducted and feedback provided as required.
